Family Support Networks

Illinois Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (IFAPA) IFAPA provides training, support groups, and resources for foster and adoptive parents throughout Illinois. Their services include a statewide helpline, educational workshops, and peer networking to help families navigate the foster care system. https://www.ifapa.org/ Illinois Kinship Care Program This program supports relatives who are raising children in the foster care system by providing financial assistance, counseling, and support groups to strengthen kinship families. https://www2.illinois.gov/dcfs/aboutus/Pages/KinshipCare.aspx Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) – Foster Parent Support DCFS offers various resources including training, respite care, and support services for licensed foster parents across Illinois to help maintain stable placements and promote child well-being. https://www2.illinois.gov/dcfs/Pages/default.aspx Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition Serving Illinois families, this coalition provides specialized training, advocacy, and support networks for foster and adoptive parents, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care and community connection. https://www.foster-adopt.org/ National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) NFPA offers national-level peer support, advocacy, and educational resources tailored to foster parents and caregivers, helping families feel connected and empowered. https://www.nfpaonline.org/ The Center for Youth and Family Solutions (CYFS) Based in Illinois, CYFS provides foster care, adoption, and family support services, including counseling and training for caregivers to promote healing and stability for youth in care. https://cyfs.org/
